Juniata Earns Impressive Win Over Goucher

Huntingdon, Pa. – After a hard fought loss at Drew, the Eagles earned a victory against Goucher in their first home match of the 2012-2013 spring season. Juniata did not lose in singles or doubles competition and improved to 5-3 overall, as well as 1-1 in the Landmark Conference. The win marks coach Jason Cohen's first home victory in his first full season at the helm of the Juniata tennis program.

The Eagles were impressive in all phases of the game Thursday. However, a few performances stood out. Junior Elliot Perow (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) earned a gritty 2-1 win in the No. 2 singles position, while fellow junior Justin Wisniewski earned a straight set victory in the No. 1 position. After battling all afternoon with Goucher's David Spivey, Perow managed to put the contest away, winning the final set 7-5.

In doubles competition, Perow paired with freshman Bryan Gregory (Glen Mills, Pa. / Garnet Valley) to earn a decisive 8-2 victory. Meanwhile, Wisniewski teamed up with senior Brice Morey (Enola, Pa. / East Pennsboro) to take an 8-6 win.

The Eagles will now look to start a win streak as they move on to face both Stevenson and Salisbury on Saturday, March 30th at the McDonogh School.
