HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College men's and women's tennis teams made their spring 2011 home debut on Sunday afternoon, but the Raffensperger Tennis Courts offered no magic for the Eagles as both squads fell to the University of Scranton.

With both Eagle squads playing their second Landmark Conference match in as many days, the Juniata women dropped a 7-2 decision to the Lady Royals, while the men's team fell 9-0 to Scranton.

Also for the second time in as many days, Stacie Beegle (Schellsburg, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) and Hilary Walsh (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) turned in sterling performances to pace the Eagles on the court. 

Beegle rallied from a 6-1 loss in the first set to Scranton's Elisha Connell at no. 2 singles, taking a 7-5 win in set two and clinching the victory with a 10-3 triumph in the supertiebreak.  Walsh reversed the order of the split in the first two sets of her no. 6 singles match against Kirsten Wentworth, but also captured the match in a supertiebreaker to post a 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 win.

In the men's match, Justin Wisniewski (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) had the strongest outing of the day, falling to the Royals' David Teres 6-3, 6-2 in his no. 1 singles match.

Juniata will take on Frostburg State in non-conference road matches this week, with the men traveling to Frostburg on Wednesday, April 6, and the women battling the Bobcats on Thursday, April 7.
