Men’s tennis sees post-season hopes fade in loss to Moravian

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College men's tennis team saw its post-season hopes vanish with a 6-3 loss to Moravian College, Saturday afternoon on the Raffensperger Tennis Courts in Huntingdon, Pa.

The Eagles (6-12, 3-4 Landmark) needed a win over the Greyhounds if they were to capture the final spot in the 2008 Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Championship.

Juniata opened with wins in two out of the three doubles matches. Jonathan Skoner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) and Aaron Rhodes (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) required a tiebreaker to knock off Moravian's Chandler Forman and Tom Turcich at #2 doubles, 9-8 (7-0), while Arnab Chakrabarti (Alpharetta, Ga./Alpharetta) and Jarrad Silver (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) easily dispatched the Greyhound tandem of Ian Box and Keith Feinman, 8-3, at #1 doubles.

In singles competition, Skoner had the lone Eagle victory with a 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3 win at #2 singles over Moravian's Jason Bonilla. Matches at #3 and #5 singles both went into either third sets or super-tiebreakers, with the Greyhounds' Forman coming out on top at #3 singles, and Feinman taking the #5 singles match.
