Eagles Drop to Cardinals on Senior Day

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team lost to the visiting Catholic University of America, 4-0, on Senior Day at Gibbel Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Arun Subramanian made two impressive saves early on as he denied clear scoring opportunities for the Cardinals.

In the 24th minute, a Cardinal forward juggled a cross into the box twice before firing into the right corner of the net to make it 1-0.

In the 31st minute, Jayden Gaynor danced past several Catholic defenders into the box on the left side, cut the back, and played it across the front of the goal about 12 yards out. Nathan Weick ran onto the ball and fired towards the right corner, but the ball went just wide of the net.

Juniata trailed 1-0 at the break, with the Cardinals holding a 16-2 edge in shots.

In the 51st minute, Catholic scored on a tight shot from the left side of the Eagle goal that smashed into the far side paneling to double their lead.

Five minutes later, a third from a sublime free-kick went into the right corner of the net from 25 yards out and slightly right of center.

Catholic added a fourth in the final 10 minutes to complete the scoring.

Subramanian made four saves in goal for the Eagles, while Axel Grater made five.

Juniata finishes the year 6-9-1, with a pair of conference victories marking the most for the program since 2014.
