Eagles Fall to Greyhounds on Senior Day

HUNTINGDON, Pa. The Juniata men's lacrosse team honored the program's first-ever senior class on Saturday in a home conference matchup against the Moravian Greyhounds since their first varsity season in 2022.

Seniors Kolton Black, Aiden Duran, Danny HooverNolan Verespy, Justin Toney, and junior Wyatt Ledeboer, who will be abroad in Spain for his final year, were each honored prior to the start of the match for their contributions and sacrifice during their time in the program.

Once the game was underway, the Greyhounds commanded play, opening a 6-1 lead at the end of the first period. The Eagles' first goal was scored by junior defenseman Charlie Newman and assisted by sophomore attacker Beaux Wojciechowski

Newman scored on another Wojciechowski assist following Black's early goal in the second period. A Moravian goal was wedged in between Juniata's two goals to make it 7-3, and the Greyhounds extended their lead to 9-3 before heading into the halftime break.

During halftime, Juniata athletics honored the new Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2020 and 2024 inductees. New inductees included Amber Thomas Reiger '09, Matt Werle '09, Bill Williams '68, Nat Mitchell '68, Wilson Antoniuk '94, Kim Allen Wise '04, Melonie Sappe '05, Nancy Hayes '06, Bethany Kozak Chamberlain '09, Megan Sollenberger Wytovich '10, Alyssa Erb '10, Steph Strauss '11, and Ashton Bankos Hirsch '12.

Black scored his second goal on Wojciechowski's third assist early in the third period. Moravian responded again and led by a score of 13-4 heading into the fourth period.

Newman and Black completed their hat tricks in the fourth period on late goals assisted again by Wojciechowski and then by Duran. Moravian held on late in the game and won by a final score of 16-6.

The Eagles will fall to 2-9 overall and 0-3 in Landmark Conference play. They will look to pick up their first conference win at Susquehanna University on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
