Black Breaks Single-Game Scoring Record in Eagles First Win of the Season

Black Breaks Single-Game Scoring Record in Eagles First Win of the Season

WASHINGTON, Pa.- The Juniata Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Washington & Jefferson College on Tuesday and picked up their first win of the season in a record-setting 12-7 victory.

Which record was broken?

Juniata's single-game scoring record.

Senior midfielder and attacker Kolton Black had six goals going into the game. He scored six more on Tuesday, doubling his total for the season and breaking the single-game scoring record by one. The previous record was five, initially set by Jacob Wallman in March 2022 and then tied in April 2023 by current junior defender Charlie Newman

Black had two of his goals in the first period, where fellow teammate Beaux Wojciechowski added two of his own. The Eagles led 4-0 at the end of the first period.

Black grabbed his third in the second period while the Presidents at Washington & Jefferson scored two. The Eagles led 5-2 at the halftime break.

Black continued to soar for the Eagles in the second half and had tied the record by the end of the third period, adding two goals on assists from senior attacker Aiden Duran and Wojciechowski. Sophomore midfielder Brandon Simonini scored his first of two goals in the third period as well. The Eagles led 8-4 at the end of the third period.

Less than three minutes into the fourth period, Black found his sixth, and inspired Wojciechowski to score his third and Simonini to net his second. Newman also got on the board with under three minutes left to play, securing a 12-7 win.

The Eagles will look to build momentum in another road trip at McDaniel College on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
