HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's lacrosse team battled tough but ultimately lost to the University of Scranton, 22-7, Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.
The first quarter was back and forth as the Eagles struck first as Reuben Stoll (Bethesda, Md. / Walt Whitman) found Jake Rivoir (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields), but the Royals scored the next to retake the lead. Nolan Verespy (Lansdale, Pa. / North Penn)_scored his first career goal as he went the length of the field before beating the keeper.

Scranton struck again, but the Eagles responded at the buzzer as Jacob Wallman (Arbutus, Md. / Western Tech) ran the clock down before firing past the Scranton goalie as zeros showed on the clock.

Scranton scored the first two goals of the second before Kolton Black (Mount Airy, Md. / South Carroll)shed his defender and ripped a shot into the net to halve the deficit. The Royals rattled off three straight nearly three minutes to make it 8-4, prior to an Aiden Duran (Walden, N.Y. / Valley Central) goal off a Vincent Bechler (East Brunswick, NJ / East Brunswick ) assist to send JC into the locker room down by three.
The Royals took control in the second half as they scored seven goals in each quarter. Jack M Loucks (Toronto, Canada / Minden) managed a goal and an assist in the fourth, while Duran scored his second and Wallman assisted Loucks's goal.
Justin Toney (Westminster, Md. / Winters Mill) made 18 saves in goal for the Eagles, while Ryan Madison (Wilmington, Del. / Conrad School of Science) made three during his time in net.
The Eagles close their inaugural season 1-13.
