Eagles drop road game 81-60 to Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. – Juniata men's basketball could not come back from an 11-point halftime deficit Saturday night and snapped a five-game win streak with an 81-60 loss to the University of Scranton.  The Royals handed Juniata its last two losses.  The Eagles are now 13-6, 5-3 in the Landmark Conference.

 

Juniata shot 80-percent from the free throw line and finished with eight steals.

 

Juniors Brian Scholly (State College, Pa./State College) and Jeremy Hays (McMechen, W.Va./John Marshall) led the Eagles. Scholly finished with a game-high 18 points and Hays earned 11, respectively.   

 

Scranton (15-5, 6-3 Landmark) was on fire shooting. They hit 2-out-of-3 shots from the floor in the second half and shot over 58-percent for the game.

 

Juniata stays on the road and travels down to face No. 10 Catholic University, Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m.  The Cardinal will be looking for redemption as Juniata handed Catholic its second loss of the season and its only conference loss.  The Eagles have won two out of their last three meetings with Catholic and lead the all-time series 8-5.
