HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata men's basketball team improved to 4-0 Saturday evening after defeating Dickinson College 68-59 at home in the Kennedy Sports+Recreation Center. The Eagles shot 53-percent from the floor and went 11-for-13 from the free throw line in the win.
"It's good," said Head Coach Greg Curley of the streak. "I think if you want to be a good team, you need to play well at home."
Junior Kevin Stapleton (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) led all Eagles with a season-high 15 points. He went 6-for-8 from the floor, 3-for-4 from three point, and picked up three assists and two steals.
Earning 14 points apiece were senior Alex Raymond (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Altoona) and junior Brian Scholly (State College, Pa./State College). Raymond went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line and had a game-high three steals. Scholly shot 60-percent from the floor and grabbed five rebounds.
Dickinson (2-1) was led by Gerry Wixted who finished with a game-high 24 points after going 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
Juniata hits the road for the first time this season. They face Carnegie Mellon on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m. before opening Landmark Conference play at Moravian on Dec. 1 at 4 p.m.
"It's just good timing," Curley said of the trip. "With playing Moravian next Saturday, we need go on the road. And we are going to see a very good Carnegie Mellon team that's really athletics so it's going to be a challenge for us. Hopefully we take them one at a time and try to continue to get better."
The Eagles are 13-12 all-time against Carnegie Mellon. Juniata defeated the Tartans 76-69 last year, but dropped a close 65-61 game when they last travelled to Skibo Gymnasium in 2010.
