Eagles Field Hockey Stopped by River Hawks 1-0

THE STORY: Juniata field hockey fell to Susquehanna 1-0 on Wednesday evening in Selinsgrove. The Eagles had eight shots in total and five on goal but the River Hawks had the game's only goal despite having just four on frame.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: The two teams were scoreless after the first half. Susquehanna scored at 47:39 as Taylor Franco found Hunter Pitman for the goal.

 

IN THE CAGE: Kylie Edwards (Danville, Pa./Danville) faced four shots and had three saves in the game. Susquehanna goalie Emily Digaetano had five saves.

 

INSIDE THE CIRCLE: The Eagles had a couple of chances to net the equalizer late in the second half. Kristen Ostrzyzek (Hope, N.J./Belvidere) got a shot off with 3:11 to play that was turned away by Digaetano. Brittani LaFollette (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) had the last chance for JC with 52 seconds remaining but her attempt went wide of the goal.

 

THE RECORD: The Eagles' record stands at 4-8 overall and 1-3 in the Landmark. Susquehanna improves to 10-2 and 3-1 in the conference.

 

UP NEXT: Juniata returns to Knox Stadium this Saturday when it hosts Scranton. Game time is at 4:30 p.m.
