HUNTINGDON, Pa. – After an illustrious career on the field, senior Emma Dahmus (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) continues to collect the accolades.  She was named the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for field hockey, the league announced Wednesday morning.  Only 20 senior scholar-athletes are chosen each year and Dahmus joins the ranks of an elite group.

"Emma is the epitome of what a great student-athlete is at really any level," said Juniata head coach Caroline Gillich.  "She has achieved high levels of success as an individual, as a team member and an athlete.  And has achieved at the highest level as a student."

The midfielder is currently completing her studies in biology with a minor in religious studies.  She is the ninth Eagle all-time to earn the honor and just the second field hockey player.  A three-time All-Landmark selection, Dahmus was named National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region this year and earned a spot as an NFHCA Senior All-Star.  She is ranked in the programs record book for career points and assists and has earned two hat tricks in her career.

Dahmus has also been busy off the field.  She is the Co-President of Juniata's Colleges Against Cancer and the Director of Special Events for Special Olympics.  She has also worked at the Huntingdon Humane Society and was instrumental in team recruitment and development for Relay for Life.

Her work in the classroom and the community also earned her The Clarence R. Pentz Endowed Pre-Medical Scholarship.  Dahmus is anticipating attending medical school after graduation.

"As Emma looks to head onto med school next, her options are wide open because of the work she has done here and because of the person she is," added Gillich.  "We're excited to see Emma continue down her academic path.  Just sad to see this part of her athletic career come to an end."
