Eagles Split at Lycoming to Take Season Series

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team split at Lycoming College, losing 3-0 before winning 3-2 in 10 innings, to win the season series on Saturday afternoon at Brandon Park.

The Warriors starter and Derek Gehr dueled through the first three innings.

Lycoming had an offensive breakthrough first, scoring three runs on four hits and an error in the fourth.

A two-run blast in the eighth by Lycoming provided the game's final two runs.

Gehr pitched eight innings, allowing five runs on nine hits with four strikeouts.

In game two, the Warriors struck first with an RBI single to right-center in the first.

Juniata answered in the fourth with a Charlie Bakken RBI single to right that scored Michael Warren.

Neither team could manufacture runs through nine, so the game headed to the 10th. Dakotah Snyder singled to right field, and JR Harrison entered to pinch-run for him. Zach Johnston singled to center, and Warren drew a walk on a full count to load the bases. A fielding error by the third baseman saw Joey Woodrow reach safely, and two batters later, Bakken drew a walk to double the lead.

The insurance run was important as the Warriors managed to cross home plate once in the bottom half of the inning, but Jason Waguespack struck out the next batter to end the game.

Zachary Malone started and pitched seven innings, allowing one run on four hits, three walks, and nine strikeouts. Waguespack pitched the final three innings, allowing one run on one hit, a walk, and two strikeouts.

Juniata is now 17-23, with the 17 victories the most for the program since 2009.
