Eagles Fall to Royals in the Rain

Eagles Fall to Royals in the Rain

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team lost in soggy conditions to the visiting University of Scranton, 18-5,  Sunday morning at Langdon Goodale Field.

With rain beginning early in the game and persisting throughout, both teams took a bit of time to adjust, but ultimately it was the Royals who would get up to speed more quickly. Five innings passed with the score staying close, but entering the top of the sixth with a 5-3 lead, Scranton would blow the doors off the hinges, racking up a hefty 12 runs which the Eagles could not answer.

The Eagles managed 10 hits of their own in the game, with Ryan Hughes (South Harrison Twp., N.J. / Kingsway Regional) providing the Eagles' best performance at the plate, going two for two with a run and an RBI. Aaron Bollinger (Millerstown, Pa. / Greenwood) hit a double, while Joey Allegrini (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) ripped a triple in his first plate appearance in the bottom of the third inning.

The Eagles will conclude their regular season at home on Thursday, May 5th, as they host Susquehanna for the make-up of their third matchup of the season. Game time on Thursday is set for 3:30 PM.
