Juniata tennis teams tabbed for ITA academic honors

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Members of both the Juniata College men’s and women’s tennis teams were honored for their classroom accomplishments by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Tuesday, when the ITA’s roster of All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes was announced.

Juniata women’s tennis was one of 85 Division III women’s tennis teams recognized as an All-Academic Team, for achieving a team grade point average of 3.20 or above. Juniata was one of three Landmark Conference women’s tennis squads to earn the honor, joining Goucher College and Moravian College.

Stacie Beegle (Schellsburg, Pa./Chestnut Ridge), Charlotte Caddick (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley), Lisa Hauptman (Lorsch, Germany/Alfred-Delp-Schule), Hilary Walsh (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area), and Heather Waring (San Antonio, Texas/John Jay) were individually honored as ITA Scholar-Athletes. To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, an individual must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale, and have been enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters.

Three members of the Juniata men’s tennis team also earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors: Brice Morey (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro), Elliott Perow (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon Area), and Kyle Salage (Blakeslee, Pa./Pocono Mountain West).
