Kratzer's career began at Lock Haven University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in recreation management and was the captain of the football team at quarterback. Kratzer joined Villanova University in May of 2015 as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. During his time with the Wildcats, he assisted in football strength and conditioning year-round programming and implementation and directed four Olympic sports teams, including softball, men's lacrosse, golf, and track and field. He also administered sports science equipment for football and assisted with intern training developing weekly educational presentations and training techniques.

In July of 2016, Kratzer was named Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of Hartford. He assisted with all strength and conditioning operations, including programming, scheduling, intern development, and communicating with all coaches from all 17 varsity programs. Kratzer personally designed and implemented training programs for women's basketball, baseball, track and field, women's soccer, golf, and volleyball.

In November 2018, Kratzer was named Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of Hartford. With this promotion, he directed all operations that pertained to strength and conditioning including coaching, programming, scheduling of the varsity weight room, budgeting, and managing staff and interns. He designed programs specific to men's basketball, men's lacrosse, volleyball, baseball, track and field, and men's soccer. Kratzer also served on the Senior Staff Leadership Group within the Athletics Department, where discussions and decisions on any issues inside Varsity Athletics took place.

In April 2020, Kratzer was named Associate Athletic Director of Operations, Events, Facilities, and Health administrator. Kratzer was responsible for overseeing all operations of facilities, including the fitness center, and managing gameday preparations and operations. He supervised the strength and conditioning department as well as the athletic training department to ensure safety and adherence to protocols. Kratzer was a program administrator for men's lacrosse and both golf teams, where he acted as the liaison between coaches, student-athletes, and athletic directors.

Kratzer earned his Master of Business Administration during his time at the University of Hartford. He holds National Strength and Conditioning Association certification, USA Weightlifting certification, and American Heart Association certification.
