Five Eagles Named AVCA All-Americans

LEXINGTON, Ky.- Juniata women's volleyball standouts, Marybeth Weihbrecht (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley), Dejia Danhi (Ashburn, Va. / Stone Bridge), Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy), Katie Byrne (Annapolis, Md. / Broadneck), and Morgan Edwards (Lancaster, Pa. / Penn Manor) were named AVCA All-Americans.

Weihbrecht was named an AVCA first team All-American, Danhi and Taylor were named to the AVCA All-America second team, while Byrne and Edwards received AVCA All-America honorable mention. This is the most AVCA All-American first and second teamers since the 2015 season. Danhi and Taylor will be the 46th and 47th AVCA All-Americans in Juniata program history. 

Two-time first team All-American, Weihbrecht has appeared in 28 matches and has played in 86 sets this season. She led the Landmark and ranks second in Division III volleyball with a .418 hitting percentage. Weihbrecht was recently named Landmark Player of the Year for the second time and was named to the Landmark All-conference first team. Weihbrecht also received AVCA All-Region honors and was named AVCA Region Player of the Year. Weihbrecht has also named Landmark Athlete of the Week two times this season (9/17, 10/1). This season, she has tallied 235 kills and 74 total blocks (16 BS, 58 BA). Weihbrecht was named Most Outstanding Player in the NCAA Regional Championship. 

Dahni has appeared in 29 matches and 99 sets. Danhi was named Landmark Athlete of the Week earlier this season (9/10) and she was named to the Landmark All-Conference second team. Danhi also received AVCA All-Region honors. Danhi has totaled 196 kills while hitting .325. She has 122 total blocks (24 BS, 98 BA) and 52 digs. Danhi was named to the NCAA Regional Championship All-Tournament team. 

Taylor has appeared in 30 matches and 102 sets. Taylor has tallied 322 kills while hitting .261. Taylor is also fifth in the Landmark with 3.13 kills per set. Taylor has also totaled 71 digs and 41 total blocks (7 BS, 34 BA). She was also named to the Landmark All-Conference first team and AVCA All-Region this season. Taylor was named to the NCAA Regional Championship All-Tournament team. 

A four-time AVCA honorable mention player, Byrne has appeared in 30 matches and has played in 104 sets this season. Byrne totaled 444 digs and averages 4.27 digs per sets which is third in the Landmark. Earlier this season, in the Eagles sweep against Randolph-Macon, Byrne surpassed 2,000 career digs. She is the fifth person in program history to do so. This season, Byrne was named Landmark Conference Specialist of the Year, Landmark All-Conference first team, and AVCA All-Region. 

Edwards has appeared in 29 matches and 99 sets. She has totaled 252 kills (2.55 kills per set), 41 digs, and 72 total blocks (7 BS, 65 BA). Edwards was also named to the Landmark All-Conference first team, was named the Landmark Championship MVP, and earned AVCA All-Region honors.
