Women's Swimming Falls to Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- The Juniata women's swim team fell, 156-90 at Elizabethtown, Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles got off to a strong start taking first place in the 200 medley relay. The team of Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan), Cassie Sanidad (Silver Spring, Md. / Springbrook), Alex Fontes (Plymouth, Mass. / Sturgis), and Maiya Mastovich (Johnstown, Pa. / Westmont Hilltop) clocked in at 2:02.63. Kendra White (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area Senior H.S.) finshed second in the 1000 freestyle coming in with a time of 11:49.07. In the 200 freestyle, Gianna Canale (Egg Harbor City, N.J. / Cedar Creek High School) finished third with a time of 2:14.94. Dettelback claimed the top spot in the 100 backstroke finishing with a time of 1:05.46. 

Sanidad finished first in the 100 breaststroke, coming in with a time of 1:15.31. Fontes finished first in the 200 butterfly, coming in with a time of 2:20.53. In the 50 freestyle, Mastovich finished third touching the wall at 29.70. Canale finished fourth in the 100 freestyle clocking in at 1:01.41. 

In the 200 backstroke, Dettelback took second coming in with a time of 2:21.18. In the 200 breaststroke, Sanidad took first (2:42.72), while Dettelback took second (2:43.13). In the 500 freestyle, White claimed second, finishing with a time of 5:46.13 while Canale came in fourth with a time of 6:09.02. 

In the 100 butterfly, Fontes finished first with a time of 1:04.62. White came in second in the 200 IM coming in with a time of 2:32.29. In the final event of the meet, the team of Fontes, Canale, Sanidad, and White finished second in the 200 freestyle relay. 

Juniata returns to action after the new year on January 12th as they will travel to Chatham. Meet time is set for 1:00PM.
