Women's Swimming Opens up Season at Schweikert Relays

SELINSGROVE, Pa.-The Juniata women's swim team opened up their season at the Schweikert Relays hosted by Susquehanna.

The team competed against Landmark opponents Elizabethtown College and Susquehanna University along with Lebanon Valley College and King's College from the MAC conference.

In the first event of the evening, the team of Tabi Dettelback (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater Raritan)Cassie Sanidad (Silver Spring, Md. / Springbrook),Alex Fontes (Plymouth, Mass. / Sturgis), and Kendra White (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore Area Senior H.S.)took fourth in the 200 medley relay. 

In the 3x100 breaststroke relay, the Eagles finished .49 thousandths of a second behind the second place team. Dettelback, Fontes, and Sanidad placed third. 

JC had another great finish, as they placed second in the 3x100 butterfly relay, clocking in at 3:17.91. The team consisted of Fontes, White, and Sanidad. 

The team of Maiya Mastovich (Johnstown, Pa. / Westmont Hilltop), Sanidad, Dettelback, and White finished fifth in the 500 freestyle crescendo relay with time of 5:2212. Swimmers swam a 50, 100, 150, and 200 to make up a 500 freestyle. 

The Eagles came in with a time of 4:37.10 in the 4x100IM relay. White, Dettelback, Fontes, and Sanidad came in third place. 

There was a no team scoring in the meet. 

The Eagles are back in action on October 27th as they travel to Chatham for an invitational.
