Eagles Finish Weekend Strong with Season Best Times at California Invite

CALIFORNIA, Pa.- The Juniata women's swim team finished third in this weekend's California Invitational with a total of 345 points.

Day two of the California University of PA invite began with a 200 medley relay, the quartet of Krista Peachey (Hummelstown, Pa. / Lower Dauphin), Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg), Alex Fontes (Plymouth, Mass. / Sturgis), and Emily Angeline (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) finished in fifth place coming in with a time of 2:10.59. In the 1650 freestyle, Angeline came in with a time of 22:30.42 placing fifth. In the 50 freestyle, Peachey was a top finisher for the Eagles coming in sixth place with a time of 28.07. Danielle Ochs (Huntingdon, Pa. / Juniata Valley) finished 11th while Eliis Irv (Hampshire, England / Havant) finished 12th in the 50 freestyle. 

Peachey then finished fourth in the 100 backstroke finishing just three seconds behind third place. Fontes swam a season best time in the 200 breastroke finishing fourth with a time of 2:50.41. In the 200 freestyle, Brubaker swam a season best time of 2:23.78. In the 100 butterfly, Fontes took fifth place with a time of 1:05.34 and Peachey came in with a time of 1:10.75. Brubaker came in third in the 400 IM with a time of 5:52.70. To finish the weekend, the team of Angeline, Peachey, Fontes, and Brubaker came in third in the 800 freestyle relay coming in with a time of 9:41.25. 

The Eagles return to the pool on January 27th for their senior day. They will face Marywood at 1:00PM.
