HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team fell, 4-1, to visiting Scranton Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Gibbel Stadium.
Three minutes into the game, a Royals player smacked the ball in from about thirty yards out on the right-wing. It hooked in and went just over the outstretched hands of Cati Besch (Bellefonte, Pa. / Bellefonte Area HS) and in.
In the 14th minute, the Royals doubled their lead when they got to a ball bouncing around the box and placed it in the far-left corner. Three minutes later they struck again to make it 3-0.
The Eagles trailed 3-0 at the half.
In the 73rd minute, Scranton found the back of the Eagle net for the fourth time.
Two minutes later, as the Eagles were looking to get one back, the ball struck a Scranton defender in the arm and Juniata was awarded a penalty. Brooke Rotheram (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick High School) stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to get JC on the board.
Juniata finishes the year 3-12-2.
