Eagles Fly Above Pacers

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata softball team swept Marywood University, winning game one, 3-2 and game two 7-6.

Marywood started things off in the top of the first, scoring their only two runs of the game to lead Juniata, 2-0.  In the first, Alyssa "Sheddy" Shedlock (State College, Pa. / State College) got the Eagles going with a home run to right field. In the third, Shedlock once again got JC going with a double to center field. After a ground out to third base, Shedlock crossed home to tie up the game, 2-2. The score was tied up until the bottom of the seventh. Erin Pfeffer (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity High School) started off the inning with a walk to first. Molly Ulrich (Homer, N.Y. / Homer Central) reached first on an error by the first basewoman and Pfeffer advanced. Ulrich then stole second and Shedlock was walked. With the bases loaded, Abby Ebright (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East HS) singled to the shortstop for an RBI, sending Pfeffer home to secure the win. 

Shedlock went 2-3, with two runs scored, an RBI, a double, and a home run. Ebright went 2-4 with a RBI. 

Game two saw the Pacers come out strong again by scoring two runs in the first. Shedlock started off the first inning with a single to left field. Ebright doubled down the right field line and Shedlock advanced to third. Maggie Peck (Philipsburg, Pa. / Philipsburg Osceola) homered to left center for three RBI's. The Eagles took the lead, 3-2 after the first. In the bottom of the fourth, Ebright doubled down the left field line. Peck took a walk to first. Catherine Miller (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) singled then advanced to second on a throw. Peck and Ebright also scored on a throw to extend Juniata's lead, 5-2. 

In the bottom of the sixth the Eagles scored two more runs. Shedlock started off the inning with a walk to first. Ebright then doubled allowing Shedlock to score. Peck singled to left field, then Miller was walked and Peck advanced. Maya McLeod (San Diego, Calif. / La Jolla Country Day School) doubled to left center, advancing Miller and she brought Peck home. In the seventh, the Pacers tried to even the score by adding on four more runs but it wasnt enough as Juniata led, 7-6. 

Peck went 2-3, with three runs scored, three RBI, a walk, and a homerun. Ebright went 4-4 with two runs scored, three doubles, and a RBI. 

The Eagles return to action Saturday, March 30th as they travel to Drew for a conference doubleheader starting at 1:00 PM.
