Juniata Comes Up Short on Senior Day

Juniata Comes Up Short on Senior Day

THE STORY: One goal was enough to lift the Greyhounds over Juniata on their senior day. After a fourth-minute goal by Moravian, Juniata kept them from adding on. However, the Greyhounds did the same for the Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Greyhounds jumped ahead early with a goal in the fourth minute of play. Moravian continued to threaten around the goal with ten shots in the first half. Dani Meyer-Arrivillaga (Durham, N.C./Carolina Friends) took four shots for the Eagles, the only shots of the half, but was unable to capitalize on any.

INSIDE THE BOX: The Eagles were held to eight shot opportunities, while Moravian took 20 themselves. Meyer-Arrivillaga's five shots led the Juniata offense. Taylor Golemboski (Philipsburg, Pa./Philips-Osceola) was the only Eagle with a shot on goal.

Moravian held the advantage in corners kicks with seven to Juniata's one.

BETWEEN THE POSTS: Freshman Logan Tackett (Herndon, Va./Herndon) marked nine overall saves with four saves in the first half and five in the second.

SENIOR DAY CEREMONIES: Steven Stroup (Bedford, Pa./Bedford), Pedro Basaca (San Diego, Calif./ -), Meyer-Arrivillaga, Carl Pollard (Sunbury, Pa./Line Mountain), Steven Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland), Golemboski, Alex Bischer (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) and Aaron Kulig (Green Lane, Pa./Boyertown) joined their families at midfield to honor their careers before the start of the game.

WHAT'S NEXT?: Juniata travels to Elizabethtown for their final game of the 2016 season. The men are scheduled to play at 3:30 p.m. after the women play at 1 p.m.
