Meyer-Arrivillaga Scores in 4-1 Loss at Scranton

THE STORY: Despite Dani Meyer-Arrivillaga's goal in the first half, the Eagles fell to Scranton 4-1 on Saturday, Oct. 15. With the loss, Juniata moved to 1-4 in the Landmark Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Royals scored two goals in the first fifteen minutes, giving themselves an early 2-0 lead over the Eagles. Scranton remained in control, getting off three more shots before scoring again on a header in the 31st minute.

With 30 seconds left in the first half, Meyer-Arrivillaga (Durham, N.C.) earned possession and dribbled from 30 yards out, scoring from ten yards out to put Juniata on the board.

Scranton tacked on one more in the 56th minute immediately following a corner kick. 

INSIDE THE BOX: Scranton outshot Juniata 26-4 in the contest, limiting the Eagles to one shot, Meyer-Arrivillaga's goal, in the first half and three in the second half. In addition to Meyer-Arrivillaga's two shots, Taylor Golemboski (Philipsburg, Pa./Philips-Osceola) and Steven Stroup (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) each recorded a shot on goal. 

BETWEEN THE POSTS: Logan Tackett (Herndon, Va./Herndon) made completed five saves on Scranton's nine shots on goal. All five of his saves occurred in the second half.

WHAT'S NEXT?: Juniata will play McDaniel at Gibbel Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m. for their last non-conference match. After that, both the men's and women's soccer teams will play at home against Moravian on Saturday, Oct. 22, for their senior day.
