Eagles' Momentum Continues with Overtime Win

THE STORY: With five mintues left in double overtime, Dani Meyer-Arrivillaga (Durham, N.C./Carolina Friends) headed one into the back of the net to beat Penn St.-Altoona 3-2 on Thursday, Sept. 29.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Juniata jumped to an early 2-0 lead against the Lions. In the second minute of the game, senior Steven Stroup (Bedford, Pa./Bedford), assisted by Pedro Basaca (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma), raced down the right side of the field and put one passed the keeper to score the first goal of the game. Shortly after, in the seventh minute, Aaron Kulig (Green Lane, Pa./Boyertown) set up Wyatt Page (King of Prussia, Pa./Shipley) for Juniata's second goal.

The Lions got on the board in the 62nd minute and added on one more in the 79th minute to tie the game at two.

OVERTIME PLAY: Penn St.-Altoona held the advantage in the first overtime, outshooting the Eagles 4-0. However, in the second overtime, Juniata came out strong. Meyer-Arrivillaga got a shot off in the first minute, missing high. Then, in the 105th minute, John Miller (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) set up Meyer-Arrivillaga for the header shot that won the game.

BETWEEN THE POSTS: Andrew Yeich (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) started in goal for Juniata, marking three saves on the seven shots he faced. Ben Forgas (Manassas, Va.) came in after the half and finished the game. His key save at the end of the second half kept the game knotted at two.

INSIDE THE BOX: The Lions outshot the Eagles 22-11, tallying 11 shots in the second half. Juniata limited them to only four shots in overtime.

Meyer-Arrivillaga led the offense with four shots, including two in the second overtime. Page followed with three shots and one assist.

WHAT'S NEXT?: Juniata heads to Catholic to face its conference rival on Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m.
