King's Strikes First in Overtime Play

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. - John Miller scored in the 65th minute for the Eagles to put them into overtime. King's College, however, struck in the 98th minute to defeat Juniata 2-1 on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The Monarchs came out strong, tallying five shots in the first 13 minutes of the game. In the 15th minute, King's shot from 18 yards out and scored the first goal of the game. The Monarchs continued to hold the advantage throughout the first half, as Wyatt Page (King of Prussia, Pa./Shipley) recorded Juniata's first and only shots in the 37th and 38th minute.

In the second half, King's came out strong again with five shots before Juniata regained possession. Miller (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) tied the game with the assistance of Jarrod Gibson (Abington, Pa./Abington) and Page, a goal on a cross from the left into the box on the counter attack. This was Miller's first goal of the season.

For the rest of the second half, the Eagles and the Monarchs played evenly, forcing the game into overtime.

King's College recorded four shots in overtime until they snuck one through on a penalty kick.

Up next, the Juniata Eagles will head to Mt. Aloysius on Tuesday, Sept. 20 for a 4 p.m. game.
