Eagles Break Out Offense in 5-0 Home Opening Win over Pitt-Bradford

HUNTINGDON, PA.—Juniata's men's soccer team broke in Gibbel Stadium with a 5-0 win over University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Despite some harsh rain, the Eagles gained the offensive power necessary to earn their first win of the season.

 

Gibbel Stadium's first goal was scored by senior Taylor Golemboski (Philipsburg, Pa./Philips-Osceola) in the 34th minute. Just one minute later, Matt Hulsebosch (Lansing, N.Y./Lansing) set up Steven Stroup (Bedford, Pa./Bedford) for goal number two. Before the end of the half, Dani Meyer-Arrivillaga (Durham, N.C./Carolina Friends) scored to make the game 3-0 at the half.

 

Meyer-Arrivillaga opened the second half with Juniata's fourth goal, his third of the season. The last goal of the game came in the 64th minute by Stroup, assisted by Kuba Kreciglowa (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Central).

 

Meyer-Arrivillaga led the Eagles with eight shots and five on goal. Overall, they recorded 21 shots,  the most so far this season. The Panthers tallied six shots.

 

Up next, the Eagles are heading to the Lynchburg Shellenberger Memorial Tournament to play Lynchburg on Saturday, Sept. 10 and Roanoke on Sunday, Sept. 11.
