HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's basketball team suffered a 73-54 defeat at the hands of undefeated Gettysburg, Sunday afternoon inside Memorial Gymnasium. 

Marcus Hall (York, Pa. / Trinity) rejected a shot on the opening possession for the Eagles before Cameron Keck (Waynesboro, Pa. / Waynesboro) found Kohl Bernarding (Cochranton, Pa. / Cochranton H.S.) in the mid-post for a nifty one-handed bank shot to get the Eagle son the board. The teams traded empty possessions before John Kelly (Philadelphia, Pa. / Roman Catholic High School) dumped it to Hall in the post who converted with a smooth left-handed scoop shot the rolled around before dropping.  Kelly found Nathan Markey (York, Pa. / Central York) out on the wing, and he buried a triple to put the Eagles up 7-0. 

Gettysburg finally scored on a baseline jumper, Hall scored on a layup, the Bullets nailed a three before Jake Holsopple (Duncansville, Pa. / Hollidaysburg) drilled a three of a pass from Keck to make it 12-5. Gettysburg converted back to back threes to quickly get within one, 12-11, with 14 minutes to go in the half. 

Keck again found Holsopple for another three, and Nate DaCanal (Johnsonburg, Pa. / Elk County Catholic)scored on a runner to push the lead back to six. 

The Bullets went on a 10-0 run over the next four minutes as they led, 21-20 with just over eight minutes to go in the half. 

Bernarding found Keck on the right-wing, and his three pulled the Eagles back within one.  

The Bullets scored on a tough layup inside; Hall found Kelly at the elbow for a jumper, the Bullets scored again inside before Keck drilled another three to make it 25-25 with 3:39 to go in the half. 

Gettysburg buried a three with just over two minutes to go; the teams exchanged misses before DaCanal converted two free throws for the Eagles to make it 28-27.  The Bullets scored on another layup in the final minute as Juniata went into the locker room down three, 30-27.  

Gettysburg opened the second half on a 15-3 run over the first five and half minutes of the second half and never looked back as they went on to outscore the Eagles by 16 in the half to cruise to a 73-54 win. 

The Eagles will open conference play this Saturday against Susquehanna.
