Eagles Beaten By Royals in Saturday Doubleheader

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team began their weekend series with two losses hosting Scranton on Saturday, falling 10-4 in the first game before going down 13-1 in game two.

Game one saw the Royals jump out to an early lead with four runs in the first inning and never look back. The Eagles produced a run in the bottom of the second, fourth, eighth, and ninth inning, while tallying eight total runs in the game, but ultimately couldn't keep up with Scranton's scoring. Joey Allegrini (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) was a bright spot at the plate for the Eagles, going 3 for 3 and tallying 3 RBIs, while Isaac Maclay (Belleville, Pa. / Mifflin County) hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth, his sixth of the season.

The second game was a similar story, with Scranton jumping out to a lead and continuing to tally runs throughout the game, while the Eagles tallied nine total hits in game two but were held to just the one run. Evan Mock (McVeytown, Pa. / Mifflin County) was the only multi-hit performer for the Eagles, going 2 for 3 at the plate. Allegrini picked up an RBI on Juniata's sole run of the game, giving him four total on the day.

The Eagles will look to the third and final game of the series on Sunday as a chance to get a win over the Royals and avoid being swept. Sunday's game will begin at 10:00 AM.
