Sacks and Kopera Finish First for Juniata at Moravian Invitational

Northampton, Pa. - The women's cross country team competed in their second meet of the 2016 season on Friday, Sept. 16, a 6k race at the Moravian Invitational. The first Eagles to cross the finish line were in sixth and seventh place, Claudia Sacks and Allyson Kopera.

Sacks (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) finished sixth out of 73 contestants with a time of 24:01.68, less than two minutes behind the first place finisher. The freshman was the first Eagle to cross the finish line at the Bison Open on Sept. 2 as well with a final time of 18:25 (4k). 

With a time of 24:15.22, Kopera (Hastings, Pa./Northern Cambria) finished the race in seventh place behind Sacks. Her personal best in a 6k race is 23:01.9, set on Sept. 26, 2015 at the Lock Haven Invitational.

The next to finish for the Eagles was freshman Azia Kalil (Methuen, Mass./Methuen HS) in 13th, sophomore Yanibel Collado (Freeport, N.Y./Milton Hershey) in 16th, and senior Chelsea Chizmar (Johnstown, Pa./Forest Hills) in 20th.

Chizmar's 25:34.5 time beat her 6k personal best that she set at the 2013 Gettysburg Invitational.

Up next, Juniata heads to the Lock Haven Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 24.
