Women's Cross Country 2015 Season Preview

Women's Cross Country 2015 Season Preview
HUNTINGDON, PA – Following a fifth place finish at the Landmark Championships last season, the 2015 Juniata women's cross country team looks to take competitive strides in the conference and push for a top-3 finish.

The Eagles were predicted to finish fourth by the Landmark's Preseason Coaches Poll and head coach Jon Cutright believes his team is capable of exceeding those expectations.

"The program is taking big steps forward," Cutright said. "We're a young team and will be expecting a lot from our underclassmen. They have the ability to do very well."

Cutright adds five freshmen to the team and has just two upperclassmen, senior Jecenia Duran (Temple, PA / Oley Valley) and junior Chelsea Chizmar (Johnstown, PA / Forest Hills).

Also returning to the roster is sophomore standout, Allyson Kopera (Hastings, PA / Northern Cambria). Kopera led Juniata at the Landmark Championships last season with a 12th place finish at 23:57.94.

Juniata's first meet of the season is Sept. 4 at Bucknell University.
