Men’s Cross-Country Second, Women Fifth at Seton Hill Griffin Classic

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Juniata College men’s and women’s cross country teams continued their season at the Seton Hill Griffin Classic today. Seven Eagles finished in the top 25 of the race.

 

 

Men

 

Matt Guetzlaff (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland) once again had the highest finish with a time of 30:36.0, good enough for 7th place out of a total of 44 runners. Stephen Park (State College, PA/State College) trailed Guetzlaff by only a few seconds (30:40.9) for eighth overall.  Connor Diamond (Summerhill, Pa./Forest Hills) placed 13th with a time of 31:13 to beat out teammate Nick Simpson (Silver Spring, MD/Albert Einstein) who finished 14th (31:27.2). Ben Martin (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot) ran a time of 32:08 to come in 18th. Kevin Schofield (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) held onto 20th with a time of 32:21.3. Just missing out on the top 25 by five seconds was Ryan Bogdan (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) with a time of 33:54.5.

 

Women

 

Allyson Kopera (Hastings, Pa./Northern Cambria) was the lone top 25 finisher for the women’s team, placing 9th out of 58 with a time of 21:57.2. Just missing out on the top 25 were Courtney Peterson (York, Pa./Central York) placing 29th (23:48.5) and Vanessa Hurst (Ephrata,Pa/Ephrata) finishing 39th (24:59.7).

 

Both teams are idle next weekend. The Eagles return on September 20 when they will compete at the Dickinson Long Course-Short Course Invitational.
