Eagles Notch 21 Aces as they Edge Colonels For 42nd Straight Victory

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The #1 Juniata women's volleyball served up 21 aces on their way to a 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-12) win over Wilkes University Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium. 

Mia Schubert started the match off with three aces, along with a Mackenzie Coley kill and a Colonel service error to put the Eagles up 5-0 early. The visitors hung around through the middle part of the set, with a JC attack error making it 13-8. The Eagles dominated the rest of the way, closing on a 13-1 run that featured four more Schubert aces. A block by Coley and Abbey Telesz ended the match 25-9.  

Set two was the closest of the match, but the Eagles used another strong effort from the service line to win it as Lacie Brown tallied four aces, Telesz added two, and Shaena Brooks won the set with an ace of her own, 25-15. 

Set three, Juniata hit .469 as they cruised to a 25-12 win. It only featured one Eagle ace, this one by Eva Johnson

Schubert led the ace attack for the Eagles as she had eight in the match, which is tied for the third-most in a single match in program history. It is tied for the second-most in program history in the rally-scoring era. Ava Gummer led the team in kills on the day with nine. Brown added 18 assists and four aces of her own.  

The Eagles will look to continue their winning ways on Tuesday at Lycoming at 7:00.
