Women's Volleyball Dispatches Greyhounds

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The #1 Juniata women's volleyball team picked up their third conference victory of the year as they swept Moravian 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-14), Friday evening inside Memorial Gymnasium.

The Greyhounds held a 9-10 lead early in the match, but the Eagles took control from there. Three kills from Courtney Williams and two aces from Sydney Ohl put Juniata ahead 15-9. An error stopped the run for a moment, but a Lily Podolan kill, two errors by Moravian, two Mackenzie Coley kills, and one from Kennedy Christy put the Eagles in the driver's seat 21-10. A Christy ace later gave Juniata set point, and a Moravian error ended set one, 25-13.

Set two saw the Eagles hit .375 with 19 kills as they jumped ahead with a 16-4 lead and never looked back, with a kill from Ava Gummer ending set two 25-11.

Set three featured the Eagles taking six straight points early with kills from Emily Sullivan, Mia Schubert, and Eva Johnson, along with an ace from Lacie Brown and two errors by the visitors to lead 7-1 early. Moravian took the next point on a JC error prior to more Eagle kills. Schubert and Gummer struck again while Maggie Hayes tallied a kill as JC increased the lead to nine, 11-2. The Eagles cruised to a set three win, 25-14, with a Sullivan kill ending the match.

Juniata returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Wilkes. The match will begin at noon.
