Eagles Sweep River Hawks to Complete Perfect Start to Conference Play

SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The #1 Juniata women's volleyball team picked up another Landmark Conference win as they won on the road at Susquehanna, 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-18), Saturday evening at O.W. Houts Gymnasium.

The Eagles completely dominated the opening set as they hit .500, sprinted out on a 16-3 run, and never looked back, taking the set 25-11.

Set two appeared to be headed for another Eagles dominant set win, with an ace from Kiona Sky Rousset-Hernandez making it 14-6 and capping five straight points by the Eagles. SU took the next six points to get within two to momentarily halt the JC tear, but it was only for a moment. A block by Kennedy Christy and Mackenzie Coley, two errors by the River Hawks, a Mia Schubert ace, kills from Coley and Christy, another SU error, and finally, one more Schubert ace made it 22-12. A Christy ace ended set two, 25-13.

The third set saw SU grab a 1-7 lead, with the Eagles eventually putting together a 9-1 run to pull even at 11-11 on their way to a 12-11 lead on a Lily Podolan kill. The teams traded points, with the hosts getting within one for the last time at 16-15. A 9-3 run by JC closed the game, with three straight aces by Sydney Ohl ending the match 25-18.

This win puts the Eagles at 13-0, which moves the win streak spanning back to last season to 40.

Juniata will return home to host Moravian on Friday at 7:00.
