Eagles Close Texas Trip With Sweep of Leopards

TRINITY, Tx.- The #2 Juniata women's volleyball team closed their time at the Trinity Invitational with a 3-0 sweep of La Verne, Saturday afternoon inside the Bell Center.

Juniata opened the match taking five of the first six points, with Lily Podolan putting down a kill, Mackenzie Coley skying high for a solo block, Kiona Sky Rousset-Hernandez tallying an ace along with two Leopard errors. The Eagles never let up as they cruised through the rest of the set, leading by as many as 11. With the score at 24-15, Lexy Bloss and Audrey Muth combined for a block to end set one 25-15.  

The second set was more of the same, as the Eagles again made their move early. With the score at 8-5 Abbey Telesz tacked on an ace, Muth added a kill, Olivia Foley and Bloss teamed up for a block, Muth chipped in with two more kills made it 13-5. The Eagles nursed the lead the rest of the way, and holding set point at 24-16, Kennedy Christy finished things off with a kill.  

The third set was the tightest of the match, with the Leopards skulking around at 18-16 late in the set. A service error by La Verne was followed by two consecutive Telesz aces, kills from Christy and Bloss along with another Telesz ace pushed JC to match point. The Leopards fought off several match points, but a service error ended the match in favor of the Eagles, 25-19. 

Coley and Muth earned All-Tournament Team after a remarkable performance on the weekend.

Juniata will return home to take on Eastern in Tri-Match, Saturday at 12:00 on Homecoming.
