Emma Davis amassed 12 kills (.500) to go with three aces, three digs, and a block assist in the sweep of Cabrini.

CENTER VALLEY, Pa.- The Juniata women's volleyball team started the DeSales Invitational with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-17) win over Cabrini, Friday evening in Billera Hall.

The first set was close early on with the Cavaliers pulling within three, 13-10, on an Eagle error. A block from Aly Reardon (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West HS) and Emma Davis (East Berlin, Pa / Dover Area HS), an ace from Sophia Gingrich (Minneapolis, Minn. / Minneapolis Southwest H.S.), an error from Cabrini along with kills from Reardon and Davis pushed the Eagles ahead 19-11. The Cavaliers got within five to make it 19-14 before JC captured the final six points through a Cabrini error, two aces from Reardon, two kills from Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) and one more kill from Davis to win 25-14.

The second set was similar, as Cabrini again hung close, this time a bit later into the set as a kill got them within three, 20-17. Again, the Eagles closed well as three straight Taylor kills and a Davis ace put Juniata at setpoint prior to a Cabrini attack error ended the set, 25-17.

The third set saw the Cavaliers lead by as many 10-13, but the Eagles managed to retake the lead. The Cavaliers stayed close for a bit, tightening things to one, 18-17. Two kills from Davis along with one from Moira Folan (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Oakland Catholic HS). The Cavaliers called timeout, but to no avail as a solo block from Taylor sent the Eagles to match point and she followed with a kill to end it.

The Eagles will take on DeSales at 10:00 am and then SUNY Canton at 12:00.
