Women's Volleyball Ranked 7th in AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky.- The Juniata women's volleyball team is ranked 7th in this week's AVCA Coaches Top-25 Poll after being ranked 6th in last week's poll.

Over the weekend the Eagles traveled to Washington University in St. Louis to compete in the East to West Battle. The Eagles went 1-2 after facing No. 1 Emory, No. 11 Trinity (Tex.), and No. 3 Claremont Mudd-Scripps. 

On Friday, Juniata fell, 3-1 to Trinity (Tex.) and 3-0 to Emory. Against Trinity (Tex.), Moira Folan (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Oakland Catholic HS) amassed 39 assists, nine digs, and three block assists and Marie Gonsar (New Castle, Pa. / Shenango H.S.) totaled 15 kills and seven digs. Against Emory, Emma Davis (East Berlin, Pa / Dover Area HS) tallied nine kills (.438) to go with two digs, a solo block and two block assists. On Saturday, the Eagles defeated Claremont Mudd-Scripps, 3-0. Makenna Hallager (Glenolden, Pa. / Merion Mercy Academy) totaled 19 digs and a service ace while Davis added seven kills, five digs, two solo blocks, and six block assists. 

Davis was named to the East to West Battle All-Tournament team and was also named Landmark Athlete of Week for her 24 kills, 10 digs, and 17 blocks over the weekend. 

Juniata will travel to Eastern, Friday September 20th at 7:00 pm.
