Women's Volleyball Ranked 6th in AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky.- The Juniata women's volleyball team is ranked 6th in this week's AVCA Coaches Top 25 Poll after being ranked 3rd in last week's poll.

Over the weekend the Eagles hosted the 27th annual ASICS Invitational. Juniata went 2-1 after defeating Ithaca and Swarthmore.  On Friday, Juniata defeated No. 15 Ithaca, 3-0. Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) tallied 10 kills (.400), four aces, five digs, and two block assists. Marie Gonsar (New Castle, Pa. / Shenango H.S.) also added 10 kills, five digs, and four block assists. On Saturday, Juniata split the day defeating Swarthmore, 3-2 before falling, 3-1 to Carnegie Mellon. Against Swarthmore, Morgan Edwards (Lancaster, Pa. / Penn Manor) tallied 18 kills (.462), three digs, and five block assists. Sophia Gingrich (Minneapolis, Minn. / Minneapolis Southwest H.S.) added 23 digs and four aces. Against Carnegie Mellon, Gonsar totaled 12 kills, six digs, and three block assists.

Edwards and Gonsar were named to the ASICS All-Tournament team. 

The Eagles will travel to Washington St. Louis to compete in the East to West Battle. Juniata faces Trinity (Tex.) at 11:00 am and Emory at 5:45 pm on Friday. They then face Claremont-M-S at 3:30 pm, Saturday.
