Six Eagles Named to AVCA All-Region, Weihbrecht and Pavlik Receive AVCA All-Region Top Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky.- Marybeth Weihbrecht (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) was named AVCA Region Player of the Year and head coach Heather Pavlik was named AVCA Region Coach of the Year, while Katie Byrne (Annapolis, Md. / Broadneck), Dejia Danhi (Ashburn, Va. / Stone Bridge), Morgan Edwards (Lancaster, Pa. / Penn Manor), Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy), Weihbrecht, and Alyssa Tavera (Whittier, Calif. / La Salle H.S.) were all named AVCA All-Region players.

Two-time AVCA Player of the Year and AVCA All-Region teamer, Weihbrecht has appeared in 25 matches and has played in 76 sets this season. She led the Landmark and ranks third in Division III volleyball with a .420 hitting percentage. Weihbrecht was recently named Landmark Player of the Year for the second time and was named to the Landmark All-Confernece first team. Weihbrecht has also named Landmark Athlete of the Week two times this season (9/17, 10/1). This season, she has tallied 204 kills and 61 total blocks (14 BS, 47 BA). 

Head coach Heather Pavlik earns her second AVCA Region Coach of the Year award. This season, Pavlik led the Eagles to a 24-3 record overall and led the team to their 12th consecutive Landmark Conference title. Juniata enters the NCAA tournament riding a 22-match winning streak. The team sits at 12th in the country in win-loss percentage (.885) and they are currently ranked sixth in the AVCA Coaches Poll. 

A four-time AVCA All-Region player, Byrne has appeared in 27 matches and has played in 94 sets this season. Byrne totaled 399 digs and averages 4.24 digs per sets which is third in the Landmark. Earlier this season, in the Eagles sweep against Randolph-Macon, Byrne surpassed 2,000 career digs. She is the fifth person in program history to do so. 

Dahni has appeared in 26 matches and 89 sets. Danhi was named Landmark Athlete of the Week earlier this season (9/10) and she was named to the Landmark All-Conference second team. Danhi has totaled 176 kills while hitting .318. She has 108 total blocks (22 BS, 86 BA) and 46 digs. 

Edwards has appeared in 26 matches and 89 sets. She has totaled 232 kills (2.61 kills per set), 40 digs, and 63 total blocks (7 BS, 56 BA). Edwards was also named to the Landmark All-Conference first team and she was named the Landmark Championship MVP. 

Taylor has appeared in 27 matches and 92 sets. Taylor has tallied 288 kills while hitting .255. Taylor is also fifth in the Landmark with 3.13 kills per set. Taylor has also totaled 61 digs and 38 total blocks (6 BS, 32 BA). She was also named to the Landmark All-Conference first team this season. 

Tavera was named AVCA honorable mention and has appeared in 26 matches and 79 sets. Tavera has recorded 449 assists, 19 service aces, and 183 digs. Tavera was also named to the Landmark All-Conference first team this season. 

Juniata is set to host NCAA Regionals this weekend. The Eagles are set to play Notre Dame (Md.) in the opening round at 8:00 PM, Friday.
