Women's Volleyball Moves up to 6th in AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky.- The Juniata women's volleyball team is ranked 6th in this week's AVCA poll after being ranked 7th last week.

Over the weekend, the Eagles swept Scranton and Catholic, 3-0 in Landmark Conference play.  Against Catholic, Marie Gonsar (New Castle, Pa. / Shenango H.S.) totaled 11 kills, two assists, and 11 digs while Marybeth Weihbrecht (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) had nine kills and three block assists. Against Scranton, Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) tallied 13 kills, Katie Byrne (Annapolis, Md. / Broadneck) had 17 digs while Alyssa Tavera (Whittier, Calif. / La Salle H.S.) had 13. 

By defeating both Scranton and Catholic this past weekend, Juniata went undefeated in the Landmark regular season and secured the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. 

Juniata hosts Scranton tomorrow, for the Landmark Semifinals at 7:00 PM.
