Women's Volleyball Ranked 7th in AVCA Poll

Women's volleyball stays at 7th in the AVCA poll.

LEXINGTON, Ky.- The Juniata women's volleyball team is ranked seventh in this week's AVCA poll.

Over the weekend, Juniata hosted the Wid Guisler Tournament. On Friday, the Eagles defeated Mary Washington, 3-0 and Eastern, 3-0. Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) had 13 kills, hit .688 along with three block assists in the win over Mary Washington and was named MVP of the tournament. Juniata had one of their best hitting performances in a set this season as they hit .529 as a team. Against Eastern, Morgan Edwards (Lancaster, Pa. / Penn Manor) recorded 16 kills and two block assists while Marybeth Weihbrecht (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) added ten kills.  On Saturday, the Eagles defeated Johns Hopkins, 3-0. Katie Byrne (Annapolis, Md. / Broadneck), Taylor and Weihbrecht were named to the Wid Guisler All-Tournament team.  

It's been a strong month and half for the Eagles as the team is currently on an 18-game winning streak, with their last loss occurring September 8th. This is the longest winning streak since the 2006 season. The team has only dropped a set in four of the 18 wins. They are also currently ranked #1 in the Mid Atlantic Region. 

Juniata travels to Catholic this weekend for a Landmark Conference tri-match with Scranton. Matches start at 12PM and 2:30PM.
