Weihbrecht Named AVCA First Team All-American, Byrne Receives Honorable Mention

LEXINGTON, Ky.- Juniata women's volleyball standout Marybeth Weihbrecht (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America First Team. Katie Byrne (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) received honorable mention.

Weihbrecht played in all 33 matches for Juniata, amassing 324 kills (2.72 per set). She had a .362 hitting percentage which was 16th best in the country. She added 17 solo blocks and 75 block assists. The junior middle was named the Landmark Offensive Player of the Year and the AVCA North Region Player of the Year. She was named to the NCAA Tournament Westerville Region All-Tournament Team. Weihbrecht is the 44th Juniata women's volleyball player to make the first, second or third team. 

Byrne appeared in all 33 matches for the for Juniata and totaled 573 digs (4.94), 132 assists and a team high 44 service aces. The junior libero was named to the Landmark Conference first team and made the AVCA All-Region team for her third-straight year. She has received AVCA All-America honorable mention each of her three seasons.
