Ten-Time Landmark Champion Eagles Picked First in Volleyball Preseason Poll

For the 11th year in a row, the Juniata women's volleyball team was picked first in the Landmark Volleyball Preseason Poll that was released today.

Susquehanna finished second, Catholic in third and Scranton in fourth.

The Eagles return a strong group of upperclassmen led by AVCA All-Region selection Megan Moroney (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) who was second on the team in kills last season. Another AVCA All-Region standout, junior Katie Byrne (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck), returns after leading the team in digs the previous year. Senior Christine Irwin (State College, Pa./State College) returns and was seventh on the team in kills per set last year while Chelsea Scafuro (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) appeared in 29 sets 

Junior Marybeth Weihbrecht (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) returns after averaging 2.04 kills per set last year which was good for fifth on the team. Sophomore Korin Koehler (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) played in every match last year and led the team in aces the previous season. Sophomore Rachel Boe (San Carlos, Calif./Saint Francis) played in 16 matches for the Eagles in the last campaign.

Juniata opens the season this weekend at the Cortland in the Red Dragon Classic and will play Cortland, Friday at 5:00 and Vassar at 7:00. Saturday they will play Oneonta at 11:00 and Fredonia at 1:30.
