Four Eagles Selected to AVCA All-Region Team; Phillips Honorable Mention

LEXINGTON, KY- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Thursday announced its 2016 All-Region Teams. Senior middle hitter Nakita Gearhart (Waynesboro, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim), senior setter Kelly Reynolds (Upper Saint Clair, Pa. /Upper Saint Clair), junior middle hitter Megan Moroney (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) and sophomore defensive specialist Kate Byrne (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) were all named to the North Region Team. In addition, senior outside hitter Mar-Jana Phillips (Carson, Calif./Rolling Hills Prep) received an Honorable Mention.

 

For Gearhart and Reynolds, it is their fourth straight selection. It is the second for both Moroney and Byrne.

 

On Tuesday, Reynolds was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year with Byrne being tabbed as the Specialist of the Year. Reynolds, Byrne, and Gearhart were named to the First Team. Moroney and Phillips were Second Teamers.

 

All-American Selections will be made on November 15.
