Byrne, Conger, Reynolds Garner Top Landmark Honors

TOWSON, Md.- The Landmark Conference announced on Tuesday afternoon the 2016 All-Conference Women's Volleyball Team. Juniata took all four of the top honors and had four named to the First Team and two selected to the Second Team.

Senior setter Kelly Reynolds (Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) was named Player of the Year for the second straight season. Freshman outside hitter Megan Conger (Rockville, Md./Our Lady Of Good Counsel) was picked as the Rookie of the Year. Last year's Rookie of the Year, Katie Byrne (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck), was tabbed as the Specialist of the Year.  Head coach Heather Pavlik earned Coach of the Year for the fourth straight season. Both Reynolds and Byrne were named to the First Team

Reynolds is averaging a career-best 11.27 assists per set for Juniata this season. That ranks first in both the Landmark and the NCAA. Earlier this season, she became the fourth Eagles player to eclipse the 4,000 assist mark and she is nine assists away from passing Jennifer Rebert for third on the all-time list. Recently, Reynolds was one of two current Eagle players to be named to the All-Decade Team.

Conger played in 24 matches and 73 sets this season for Juniata. She totaled 94 kills, 49 digs, and 23 total blocks.

Byrne was one of two Eagles to play in all 30 matches. She compiled 547 digs and averaged 5.11 per set to rank second in the Landmark in both categories.

Joining Reynolds and Byrne on the First Team are Nakita Gearhart (Waynesboro, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) and Suzanne Gloekler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic). Gearhart leads Juniata in kills with 270 and in total blocks with 69. She is hitting .335 on the year. She was selected to the Landmark All-Decade Team and was named the Landmark Tournament MVP for the third straight season. After not playing at all last year and in only one match in 2014, Gloekler had a career year for the Eagles. She had a line of 151 kills, 37 digs, and seven total blocks while hitting .267.

Megan Moroney (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) hit .339 on the season that was second-best in the conference. She put up 253 kills and 61 total blocks with her 10 solo blocks leading the Eagles. Mar-Jana Phillips (Carson, Calif./Rolling Hills Prep) is third on the Eagles in kills with 245 and her 68 total blocks are second. Her 0.75 block pet set is tied for second in the Landmark. Both players were named to the Second Team.

In her sixth year as head coach, Pavlik has a record of 168-42. Juniata went undefeated in the conference for the 10th straight season before earning its 10th Landmark title. Pavlik and her staff will lead Juniata into a record 36th NCAA tournament this weekend.
