Moroney Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced their 2016 Academic All-District™ Women's Volleyball Teams on Thursday which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Junior middle hitter Megan Moroney (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) was one of seven players in Division III in Pennsylvania to be named to the First Team. This is her second selection after being named to last year's All-District Team.

 

Academically, Moroney has a 3.70 cumulative GPA. Her POE is math with a secondary emphasis in business. She has been a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success for two years and is a tutor for Spanish and Music Fundamentals. Outside of the classroom, Moroney is a volunteer for Special Olympics and has coached at numerous middle school leagues and clinics.

 

On the court, Moroney is second on the Eagles in kills with 242. She is third in total blocks with 60 and her nine solo blocks is a team-high. She is hitting .331, which ranks third in the Landmark Conference.

 

All First Team Academic All-District honorees will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballots, where first-, second- and third-team All-America selections take place. The Academic All-America teams will be selected by vote of the Academic All-America® committee and CoSIDA Board of Directors, with the football AAA teams announced November 28-December 1 and the women's volleyball selections announced December 5-8.
