Seven Women’s Volleyball Players Named to Landmark All-Decade Team

GOUCHER, MD- In celebration of the Landmark Conference's 10th anniversary, a Women's Volleyball All-Decade Team has been put together consisting of players that have stood out over the past 10 years. Current Eagles Nakita Gearhart and Kelly Reynolds were named along with former student-athletes Amber Thomas, Kristin Noetzel, Libby Morrison, Megan Sollenberger, and Steph Strauss.

 

Gearhart is currently a senior. She has been named to the All-Landmark First Team three times (2013, 2014, 2015) and was a member of championship teams in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Gearhart has played in 123 matches in her career thus far, totaling 1,004 kills, 65 service aces, 290 digs, and 262 blocks. 

 

Reynolds, also a senior, has been named to the All-Landmark First Team three times (2013, 2014, 2015) and was named Player of the Year in 2015. She is a member of the championship teams in 2013, 2014, and 2015. The senior has played in 127 matches in her career thus far, totaling 4,363 assists, which ranks her first in the Landmark record books. She also has 935 digs and 143 service aces.

 

Thomas was a member of the Eagles from 2005-2008. She helped guide to the team to back-to-back Landmark titles in 2007 and 2008, and was a two-time Landmark Conference Player of the Year and First Teamer. She was also named the Landmark's Senior Scholar Athlete. On the Juniata all-time record list, Thomas ranks fourth in career kills with 1,734 and third in attacks with 4,287.

 

Noetzel played from 2007-2010. She was named to the All-Conference First Team twice (2009 and 2010) and was a member of the 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 Landmark Volleyball Championship teams. Noetzel was named to the Landmark Academic Honor Roll team in each of her eligible three years. She finished her career with 667 kills, 130 digs, 228 blocks, and 41 service aces.

 

Morrison was a two-time Landmark Player of the Year (2010, 2011), and was named to the All-Conference First Team. She was a member of the Eagles team that won titles in 2010 and 2011 and finished her career with 1,418 digs.

 

Sollenberger was a member of the Juniata College volleyball team from 2006-2009, where she was named Player of the Year in 2009, and won three Landmark Championships. She was named to the Academic Honor Roll team three times (2007-2009), and earned Senior Scholar Athlete recognition in 2009. She finished her career with 2,214 digs, which ranks third in the Landmark record books.

 

Strauss was a member of conference championship teams all four years she was an Eagle (2007-2010). She was named to the All-Landmark team twice (2009, 2010), and earned the Senior Scholar Athlete award in 2010. She finished her career ranked fourth in the Landmark with 3,424 assists, and totaled 719 digs, and 186 blocks.
