Eagles Dominate Bobcats 3-0

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- Juniata women's volleyball hosted St. Vincent on Tuesday night at Memorial Gymnasium. The Eagles handled the Bobcats with ease as they won 3-0 (25-9, 25-13, 25-8).

 

Juniata jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first set which forced St. Vincent to call an early timeout. The JC lead grew to 14-1 and the Eagles cruised the rest of the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

 

The closest the Bobcats came in the match occurred in the second set. St. Vincent trailed 10-5 but Juniata went on an 8-2 run to eventually win the frame 25-13. JC broke a 1-1 tie in the third set with a big 12-1 run to pull away and take the set and the match.

 

Megan Moroney (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) led the Eagles in kills with 10. Megan Conger (Rockville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) added eight kills and also contributed on the defensive end with six digs. Kelly Reynolds (Upper Saint Clair, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) totaled 24 assists and also had three service aces. Katie Thomas (Batesville, Ind./Batesville) chipped in 11 assists. Katie Byrne (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) led the defense with 13 digs.

 

Juniata travels west to Chicago to play in the University of Chicago Invite this weekend. The Eagles play Aurora College on Friday night at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time (4:00 p.m. Central).
