Women's Volleyball Notches 3-0 Victory Over Marietta

HUNTINGDON, PA – The No.1 Juniata women's volleyball team (16-1, 3-0 Landmark) defeated Marietta College 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-22) Friday night. 

Senior Bryce Arnold (Shippensburg, PA / Shippensburg Area) led the offense with nine kills against the Pioneers.  Arnold finished the match with a .286 hitting percentage. 

Junior Brittanie Tannenbaum (Highlands Ranch, CO / Highlands Ranch) followed with six kills. 

Freshman setter Katie Thomas (Batesville, IN / Batesville) recorded 28 assists to set a new personal best on the season. 

Marybeth Weihbrecht (Mechanicsburg, PA / Cumberland Valley) and Megan Moroney (Mentor, OH / Mentor) led the defense with three blocks each.

Six freshmen saw the court and gained valuable playing experience against the Pioneers. 

Mar-Jana Phillips (Carson, CA / Rolling Hills Preparatory), Nakita Gearhart (Waynesboro, PA / Greencastle-Antrim) and Moroney each picked up a few swings during the match to get repetitions in but were able to rest up for upcoming conference competition due to the increasing depth on the team.

The Eagles head to Susquehanna Sat. Oct. 3 for a Landmark Conference weekend to face Goucher and Catholic.
