Women's Volleyball Opens ASICS Invite with Sweep of Ducks

HUNTINGDON, PA – The No. 5 Juniata women's volleyball team opened up the 23rd annual ASICS Invitational with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-16) sweep of Stevens Institute of Technology Friday afternoon. With the win the Eagles improve to 5-0 on the season.

Megan Moroney  (Mentor, OH / Mentor) led the offense with 14 kills, a .550 hitting percentage and 16.5 points. Mar-Jana Phillips (Carson, CA / Rolling Hills Prep.) totaled 29 total attacks. Kelly Reynolds (Upper Saint Clair, PA / Upper Saint Clair) had 40 assists.

Katie Byrne (Annapolis, MD / Broadneck) held strong as the defensive specialist for the Eagles and finished with 14 digs.

The Eagles led by as much as eight points in the match and never allowed the Ducks to go on more than a three-point run. 

Juniata's next match in the ASICS Invitational is against No. 18 Mount Union following the conclusion of the Raiders match with Clarkson Friday night.
